The Canadian Association of Bovine Veterinarians (CABV) / Association Canadienne des Vétérinaires Bovins (ACVB) represents over 800 veterinarians from across Canada who have a specific interest in bovine health and production medicine. The Board is composed of fifteen members who are also representatives on the Boards of Canada’s four regional bovine associations: Atlantic Bovine Practitioners Association (ABPA), l'Association des Médecins Vétérinaires Praticiens du Québec (AMVPQ), Ontario Association of Bovine Practitioners (OABP) and the Western Canadian Association of Bovine Practitioners (WCABP).
The Corporate objectives are to:
- Provide leadership on issues that are of a national importance to bovine practitioners.
- Liaison in a timely, unified and efficient manner, with other national associations including the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Cattle Association, Dairy Farmers of Canada, American Association of Bovine Practitioners and government agencies including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, on matters of national importance that relate directly or indirectly to the cattle industry, and more specifically, to bovine practitioners.
- Assist in the coordination and promotion of continuing education programs that are offered by the regional Associations.
- As designated by the Board, establish and maintain liaison activities with academic institutions, regulatory agencies, and veterinary and agricultural organizations.
